1) Research paper with the following requirements:

You must have a minimum of three sources and a maximum of five sources.

You must document the research scrupulously, both in text and in a reference, page as specified by the APA style sheet.

The essay must be five to seven double-spaced pages in length (not including the title or reference pages). Include a minimum of three and a maximum of five scholarly sources. The margins should be no more than one in. (right and left). The essay should be composed in 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font. All of the sources must be documented and cited using APA format.

2) Show a separate outline/proposal.

3) Provide an annotated bibliography. You must have three (but no more than five) scholarly resources. A scholarly resource is written by an academician with a Ph.D. or other terminal degree, is published in a multivolume, peer-reviewed journal, and has ample references of its own. Your annotations should succeed in the following.

1. It should establish the title, author, journal, and page numbers.
2. It should briefly summarize the article, book, or chapter.
3. It should analyze the text—say what the implications are, what assumptions are held, what historical context is represented, and the like.
4. It should locate at least one quotation to be used in your paper.
5. It should evaluate—say whether you agree, disagree, and why.

Consider the impact of the Vietnam War on American culture. In the decades prior to the 1980s, two issues beset American culture: civil rights and the Vietnam War. Both were televised directly into living rooms on all three channels. On college campuses throughout the world, but especially on American campuses, antiwar protests were routine. Hippies often were thought to conduct themselves on the premises of antiwar, free sex, and lots of drugs. The music that emerged from this era is still famously current and listened to today. It was an era of convertibles, gas guzzlers, freedom, and endless summers. Then that generation grew into adults, your parents and grandparents. Overview

For this project, you will write a Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper.  You will select a company in your local market place that has a niche, and identify what makes it franchisable.  Your paper will include an action plan in which you describe how to franchise the business.  The final paper will be eight-to-ten pages in length and should include the main elements described below.  The project is divided into four milestones, which will be completed in Modules Seven, Eight, and Nine.  In Module Nine, you will submit the final Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper and a Sales Presentation. 

 

 

Objectives

To successfully complete this project, you will be expected to apply what you have learned in this course and should include several of the following course objectives:

Know how to identify a business that could be franchised.

Assess the pros and cons of franchising a business idea.

Further develop the skills of observation and critical thinking.

 

 

Main Elements

The Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper should be double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font, APA citations, and 8-10 pages in length, not including the title page and resources.  The paper should contain the following main elements, in the order provided:

 

     Summary:

Provide a short one-page overview of the paper.

     Critical Points:

Include the following information about the business. Be explicit about why you think the business is franchisable.

• Name of the business
• Brief overview of the business concept
• Why is it franchisable?

o   What is the niche being filled? (Use Porter’s Five Forces to explain the niche.)

o   What else is similar in the marketplace (competition)?

o   Who is the target market for the business?

    

     Action plan:

Include a 12-month action plan to franchise this business.

     Conclusion:

• Summarize why you think this is a franchisable business.
• Why would you invest/not invest in it?

Format

Milestone One: Review

In 7-3 Franchise Opportunity Analysis: Review, you will review the Franchise Opportunity Analysis document. There is no submission at this time, but you should begin thinking about a company that you think could be franchised.  Consider how you would franchise this business and begin developing a franchise action plan. This activity will not be graded separately.

 

Milestone Two: Continue work

In 8-3 Franchise Opportunity Analysis: Continue Work, you will continue work on your Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper.  There is no submission at this time and this activity will not be graded separately.

 

Milestone Three: Submit Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper

In 9-3 Franchise Opportunity Analysis: Submit, you will submit your final Franchise Opportunity Analysis Paper. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the main elements of the final product.  It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This milestone will be graded using the Final Project Rubric.
